MEET LELAND
Leland Taylor is running for Manatee County Commission, District 1, because this community is not just where he lives it is what he is fighting for.
Born and raised in Manatee County, Leland knows this area in a way that cannot be manufactured. From Ellenton to Palmetto, this community has shaped his life, his values, and his commitment to public service. He and his wife Kim have deep roots here, having raised their family and invested in the future of the place they proudly call home.
Leland’s connection to Manatee County is also deeply personal. He loves the outdoors and appreciates the lifestyle that makes Florida so unique. From horseback riding to fishing to enjoying the natural beauty of this area, he understands just how important it is to protect the land, water, and coastal access that define our community. Preserving those things is not just part of his platform, it's personal.
Leland brings more than passion to this race. He brings experience.
During the economic downturn, when many families faced the devastating possibility of losing their homes, Leland stepped in to help. Through his work in the legal system, he helped residents fight foreclosure, challenged predatory lending practices, and partnered with builders to help families remain in their homes. He understands that when people are facing real hardship, leadership is not about talking points — it is about showing up and doing the work.

I have known Leland and worked with him for many years. You would be hard pressed to find someone as passionate about local government, justice, and Manatee County. His desire to get and keep Manatee County on the right track is contagious. I have spoken with him and while he is in District 1, I know that he cares for the entire community.
